Lio Piccolo

Lio Piccolo is a locality immersed in the Venetian lagoon, part of the municipality of Cavallino Treporti, just a few kilometres from the seaside town of Jesolo, and consists of several islets divided by narrow canals. A visit to its tiny hamlet is a fascinating destination for nature lovers where they can find refreshment, tradition, a bit of history and privileged points from which to observe lagoon flora and fauna. It is a semi-inhabited rural hamlet that finds its centre in a single small square on which stands the 17th-century church dedicated to Santa Maria della Neve, the Bell Tower that can be accessed by reservation* and Palazzetto Boldù from the late 17th century. Around a few buildings, including an agritourism where you can enjoy the best of typical lagoon cuisine. If you love to take long walks or bike rides immersed in the silence of nature ready to pleasantly surprise you with its seasonal ‘inhabitants’ then this place is for you! You can arrive directly by bike from Jesolo Paese or Jesolo Lido by following the course of the Sile river, or directly from Cavallino-Treporti, at Cà Savio, from which you can also enter the lagoon on foot.
This is a tour without technical difficulties, rich in scenic and faunal beauty. Depending on the time of year, you will encounter grey herons, swans, egrets, kingfishers, ducks, cormorants, pheasants, hares, hoopoes, avocets, black-winged stilts and, near the northernmost lagoon (via Cristo Re), pink flamingos.
